God's Own Junkyard

God’s Own Junkyard‘s recent press coverage is due to the imminent closing of The Bracey family's Walthamstow location – with developers eying the area for redevelopment and skyline stacking.

The railway-side site that the business has inhabited since 1978 is bright, bold and filled with 80's style neon-nostalgia. Extravagant pieces designed by owner Chris Bracey fight for space akin to vintage memorabilia and props from past movies, soon to be chucked on the dated and lacking of relevance pile. Noise in the actual kind, is eminent via the trains clambering by, creating a sensory-warfare that is beautifully balanced in an inanimate setting.

Chris Bacey and his family have been designing and collecting neon signage for nearly 60 years, appearing in Tim Burton's films not out of place and fully acclimatized to the weird and wonderful environments, most notably a Hotel sign used in Batman.

It's not all doom and gloom. All the works and signage present will find a new home soon, but it is only going to be in its charming and unique location for one more week. We urge you to lend your senses and brighten up your day for one last time before it's too late.
